B.Sc. Honours in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
A student must obtain a GPA of 3.00 or higher for each of CH core courses and a GPA of 2.67 for either BT or ZL or BC core courses taken within the first two years. In addition, at least a C grade for AM 1008 is required.
BSc Honours degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is an interdisciplinary programme that connects the fields of molecular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, chemistry and their mutual interfaces. This degree programme provides an excellent platform for students who are interested in the molecular basis of biological phenomena to enhance their knowledge and skills thus enabling the opportunities to pursue careers in both academic and co-operative sectors related to the medical, veterinary,marine and agricultural fields.
Degree Aims
- Aims to give a better understanding and a wide knowledge on naturally occurring biological phenomena at the molecular level
- Focuses on providing a sound and updated knowledge in both theoretical and practical aspects of biochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics, chemistry etc.
- To develop fundamental skills required in conducting research projects and in presenting their research project.
- To develop skills required to work in Biotechnology related industries
